‘Sex and the City’ Reboot: A Guide to Who’s Coming Back

With the Friends reunion special hitting screens some 17 years after the hit sitcom came to an end, it seems that TV nostalgia is currently at an all-time high.

As such, the production of the Sex and the City sequel show And Just Like That. has captured the imagination of fans the world over, with details of the plot and cast being slowly drip-fed to a ravenous public.

So who will be reprising their roles when the HBO Max series begins production in New York City this summer?

Sarah Jessica Parker, who portrays protagonist Carrie Bradshaw in the beloved franchise, will be strapping her Manolo Blahniks on for another strut through the bustling bars and eateries of the Big Apple.

Also returning are regulars Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte York), whose characters’ love lives will, no doubt, continue to be a major point of discussion over cocktails and coffees.

Despite their portrayal as confidantes on the show and subsequent two movies, Kim told Piers Morgan in 2017 that she had “never been friends” with her co-stars, as she also insisted she was done with her role as Samantha.

While Carrie will no longer have the shoulder of one of her friends to lean on https://hookupdate.net/de/victoria-milan-review/, she will be able to console herself in the arms of the dashing John James “Mr. Big” Preston, after Chris Noth was confirmed as returning to his role.

After upgrading his status from the man with whom Carrie enjoyed illicit trysts to the one she exchanged nuptials with in 2008’s first SATC movie, his presence is a hopeful sign of ongoing wedded bliss.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Chris again on And Just Like That. ,” executive producer Michael Patrick King told Deadline of the star’s return to his role. “How could we ever do a new chapter of the Sex and the City story without our Mr. Big?”

There will also be a new character in the form of Sara Ramirez’s Che Diaz, a non-binary stand-up comedian, who hosts a podcast on which Carrie is a regular guest.

Based on Candace Bushnell’s book of the same name, Sex and the City spanned six seasons between 1998 and 2004

Welcoming them to the production, King said in a statement: “Everyone at And Just Like That. is beyond thrilled that a dynamically talented actor such as Sara Ramirez has joined the Sex and the City family.

“Sara is a one-of-a-kind talent, equally at home with comedy and drama – and we feel excited and inspired to create this new character for the show.”

A major missing component will be the works of legendary costume designer Patricia Field, who has already committed to the second season of Netflix’s Emily in Paris, another project by SATC creator Darren Star.

Field recently explained to WWD: “I wasn’t able to be in New York doing that and be in Paris doing Emily in Paris.

“But I told them to call my very dear friend Molly Rogers, who also worked in my store back in the day. She knew it well so she’s doing it. My dance card was full.”

David Eigenberg, who portrayed Miranda’s husband Steve Brady, has yet to reveal whether he has signed on the dotted line for the new show.

Two films followed, with 2010’s Sex and the City 2 earning $294 million at the box office on a $95 million production budget.
