We have a vessel recently i purchased that had manufacturing plant 12V 8 gauge wiring and connect up front. My personal question for you is, I would like to operated a Minn Kota Powerdrive V2 70 LB 24V motor, but have to revise anything to 24. I’m sure just how to cable battery packs in match and series, but need to know the thing I should replace. By wiring up in show to 24V, is actually two line sufficient towards plug? Do a 24V trolling engine bring 4 cable? You will find owned 12V engines previously, but never ever any 24V setups. Anybody who can aim myself in the correct path, i’d greatly enjoy it.

The 70 LB 24V draws a max of 42 amps, thus I felt the 8 determine wires might possibly be adequate. Any easy to follow backlinks will be valued. I read some in just two cables and some with three and four. Just want to make sure I have every little thing purchased and prepared for whenever motor arrives. Cheers again

As mentioned, 24v will pulling much less amps than 12v. So if the wiring ended up being enough for 12v, it’s going to be sufficient the 24v.

The only real exception are any time you push the positioning of the battery packs and increase the distance. Distance https://besthookupwebsites.org/girlsdateforfree-review/ is important. Otherwise, and you’re simply swapping out, do not make the effort switching the wiring.

As mentioned, 24v will draw much less amps than 12v. So if the wiring had been adequate for 12v, it should be enough when it comes to 24v.

The sole different getting should you decide move the area for the batteries while increasing the length. Point makes a difference. If you don’t, and you’re just swapping on, you should not bother changing the wiring.

Yep think of they like liquids stream. if you’d like a 2″ water line but simply have 1″ you’ll two contours to obtain the conclusion need.

In an identical way with energy. You’ll manage 2 contours both run 24v but visiting the same connect possible operated twice as much amps as just running one-line state range x operates 50 amps but 2 lines x/2 work 25 amps each providing the 50 amps.

24V draws much less present than 12V. Therefore if it actually was suitable for 12, it really is ample for 24. You did get that component best?

There are several various gauges of cable that will operate. The more expensive the wire the much less current drop you have. Presuming a 20′ wire (40′ routine), 42 amp, 24V. 8 AWG should always be fine. Personally, I would not operated heavier wire for a motor that is going to move much less present than what the plant supposed.

Let me reveal Minn Kota’s Conductor Gauge information: (click on the proper website link)

Notice that the 12V 55lb. push unit straight above yours brings much more amps and requires bigger gauge cable. Also see the ideal circuit breaker is more than the max amp draw in the engine. That’s because you don’t want they to trip any time you change the motor on higher. Don’t placed a 40 amp breaker on a 42 amp motor. Take into account that 95per cent of the time you won’t suck anywhere close to 42 amps.
